American sprinter Justin Gatlin, has had a long-lasting career with national and international successes competing in several distances.
The collaboration, that would eventually become 1815 Justin Gatlin edition, started with one man striving for excellence. As a high-schooler, his talent was noticed by coaches at the University of Tennessee who granted him a scholarship that set off his sprinter career. Early on, Gatlin’s perseverance and continuous effort secured several medals to his name.
Throughout his career, some of his greatest successes count five olympic and twelve world championships medals. With a personal best of 9.74 seconds, he ranks fifth on the all-time list of male 100-metre athletes. To this day, Justin Gatlin remains one of the best within his field.
We wanted to create a one of a kind watch that embodies the sprinter spirit of Gatlin himself. When turning around the timepiece you will discover Justin Gatlin’s initials, integrated into the screw caseback with a navy blue enamel. The characteristic dot which separates ‘J’ and ‘G’ contains an authentic piece of Justin Gatlin’s race worn tracksuits.
After he had gone through his sportswear and selected a tracksuit for this collaboration, it was sent to About Vintage’s office in Copenhagen. Undoubtedly, it had to become an essential part of the timepiece’s design. As a result, the navy blue dot may now inspire you to push through the hardship life inevitably has to offer - exactly like Justin Gatlin managed to throughout his career.
VISUALISING HIS PERSONAL BEST
A Blue Turtle dial with silver numbers, gold dots and red subdial hands to represent the American flag under which Gatlin experienced many of his greatest accomplishments. Gold was incorporated to honor the gold medals won during his year-long career. Between the 12h and 2h markers, a scale divided in 1/10 seconds illustrates Gatlin’s personal record of 9.74 sec in a 100m sprint.
The watch features a screw caseback, decorated with blue enamel initials ‘JG’. The personal touch continues with an engraved quote of great significance to Gatlin himself. We kept space for you to add your own engraving below and make it yours.
Each Nato strap was created to symbolize a step in Justin Gatlin's career. The Blue Honeycomb represents his time running for the United States, while the Red Honeycomb and Orange Honeycomb symbolize the schools for which he ran throughout his career.

It’s a nice watch and the quality is fair, but I’m a bit disappointed. The blue colour isn’t as vibrant as the pictures suggest. I don’t like the bubbly/curved glass as it distorts the face. I didn’t notice that there is no 1 on the face in the picture, only after seeing it. It’s a weird ‘design’ choice. The back of the watch has been put back on upside down (post engraving?)
A beauty! The three different straps are all handsome — and each gives a distinctive look.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review - it's very much appreciated! We are happy to hear that you like the watch and the interchangeable straps. Wishing you a great summer :-)
I have known Justin and his family for several years and was excited about purchasing this watch. It looks 100 times better in person! What an honor to recognize this fine athlete and salute his legacy in the realm of track and field.
Selve uret er super flot. Men desværre bliver hullerne i remmen hurtigt flosset grundet materialet.
